The interest in outdoor recreation and the products that go with it continues to increase. Meanwhile, workwear manufacturer Fristads doubles down on its venture into the outdoor clothing world, with a new shell jacket in the range and more products in the pipeline.
“It is great to see that the interest in outdoor recreation keeps growing; it is the perfect timing for our Outdoor collection,” says Anders Hülse, Managing Director of Fristads.
A market survey from the European Outdoor Group shows that as many as 86 percent of outdoor retailers expect to grow their business by 5 percent or more in 2021, with 61 percent of them expecting to see a jump of 15 percent or more. The Covid-19 pandemic, and the restrictions that came in its wake, is believed to have fuelled the trend. With limited access to travel and their normal indoor hobbies, Europeans are simply turning to the venue that has remained open throughout the pandemic: nature.
Well-received collection
Fristads, a long-time manufacturer of workwear, entered into the world of outdoor clothing in 2020, right at the breakout of the pandemic. Although some events had to be cancelled and others moved online due to the restrictions, the launch of the new collection went according to plan overall. And it was well received.
“Both our dealers and the customers buying through our own channels have been very positive about the design, quality and colours of the clothes, and some of the items have sold out. Many customers have asked for a broader collection with more product options, so we are working on expanding the range,” says Lena Bay, Product Director at Fristads.
Fristads completed the original Fristads Outdoor product line-up with a new waterproof and windproof shell jacket in the spring. Like the other products in the Fristads Outdoor collection, it is made of recycled polyester from PET bottles and free from PFCs.
